Working year
The group's working years, one current for every school, each with its terms.
Open the page in SchoolOSWhat it is for
The working year is the scope of every page: terms, attendance and placements follow the year you work in. A year is made from its two dates, its terms are cut for you and its school days are counted.
Who uses it
The page opens for whoever holds “View the working year”, to look only, or “Manage the school: its schools, stages, grades, classes, subjects and calendar”, to work in it. In the built-in roles: Owner, Manager, Team member, Principal. They are granted to any role under Settings → Roles and permissions.
Step by step
- Press “+ Add working year”, type the start and end dates and the number of terms (2 to 4).
- Leave the title blank to make it from the dates, like 1448, or write your own.
- Tick “Make it the current year” if it is the year the schools work in now.
- To change the dates: the pencil on the year's row. To delete it: the bin.
- To look at a year other than the current one, pick it in the list at the top of the page (the current one is marked “(current)”): every page then shows that year's data in this browser only, and a strip takes you back to the current year in one press. The current year itself is set here.
How it works
A year is at most 400 days and never ends before it starts. One year is current, and the first year made takes it. Editing a year never re-cuts its terms: dates that would leave a live term outside the year are refused, and so is a number of terms smaller than the live ones. The school days are counted from the new dates, and the days of the old dates that no other year covers are cleared. Deleting deactivates: the year keeps its records and is never current, and a restore counts its days again. Every action is logged.
On the page
- “+ Add working year”: the two dates and the number of terms.

Questions
- Why can I not change the year when a term would fall outside the new dates?
- A term may carry attendance and role end dates; move or delete it on the «Year terms» page first.
- Who can make a year?
- Whoever holds the «Manage the school» key over the whole group; one school's principal does not make a year every school works in.
- How do I delete a record in “Deleted” permanently?
- From the “Deleted” tab: “Delete permanently” on the record, or “Delete all permanently” above the tab after typing the count, which takes every deleted record of the kind in all of {{customer.the}}, whatever the page's filter shows. It takes the “Permanent delete” permission, the owner's, and a fresh code from the authenticator app each time. A record other records still point to stays, and what holds it is named. A person's record has its personal data erased that night, and a row with no name stays in the records. The backups keep a copy for a few weeks, then it is gone.
