Year-end promotion

A school's pupils of the year into the next one: promoted, repeating, staying behind or graduating.

What it is for

At the year's end each school's pupils move up to the next grade in the next year, after the list is reviewed.

Who uses it

The page opens for whoever holds “View year-end promotion”, to look only, or “Manage pupils: the register, guardians, placement and promotion”, to work in it. In the built-in roles: Owner, Manager, Team member, Principal. They are granted to any role under Settings → Roles and permissions.

Step by step

Pick the school (and the stage, grade or class if you want to narrow the list: each list is inside the one before it), and copy this year's classes into the next year if they are not there.
Keep “Keep the class letter” ticked so each pupil goes to the class with their letter, or untick it to enrol everyone with no class and place them afterwards.
Review the list: for each pupil «Promote», «Repeat» or «Do not promote»; a “No class” line says why.
Press “Confirm promotion”, then open class placement from the notice for those left with no class, after picking the next year at the top of the page.

How it works

With “Keep the class letter” a pupil goes to the class of the same name in the next grade when there is one, else into the grade with no class, and the line says why: no class this year, or no such letter in the next grade next year. “Copy the classes” makes this year's classes again in the same grades, so next year's 2-B exists only if this year has a 2-B. Unticked, every pupil is enrolled with no class. A stage's last grade goes to the next stage's first grade when the school teaches it, else waits for another school. The last grade of the last stage graduates and leaves the count. This year's enrolment stays as it is, and running it twice changes nothing.
