Settings

Every setting of the group on one page: each one's name, a line on what it does and its value now; “Edit” opens its page, and “Open” a page that changes no setting.

What it is for

One place to start any change to how the group works, instead of looking for it among the menu's sections. You see each setting's value before you open it, so you know which ones need your attention.

Who uses it

Every member of staff who signs in, but the page shows each only the settings their permissions open; someone who holds none is told there are no settings for them.

Step by step

1. Open «Settings» at the foot of the side menu, or, on a phone, as the first row of the menu that «More» opens.
2. The settings are grouped in sections under their headings. Under each setting's name is a line on what it does, and beside it its value now, when it has one.
3. While the first-week steps are not all done, a section «First setup: N of M left» heads the page and lists the steps still yours to do; “Open” in a step's row takes you to its page, and the section goes once they are done.
4. Press “Edit” in a setting's row to open its page and change it there, or “Open” in the row of a page that changes no setting, such as the action log; on a phone the back button at the top of that page brings you back here.

How it works

The page is built from the pages the sections of the system switched on for the group registered: the settings pages, and the settings other sections added. A row shows only when your permissions open its page, as in the menu. The value shown is read when the page opens, and nothing changes from here: a change is made on the setting's own page and recorded in the action log as usual.

Questions

Why can't I see a setting a colleague sees?

The page shows each member of staff only what their permissions open. If you need a setting, ask the group's owner or whoever manages the roles for the permission.

Where do I change a setting's value?

On its page: press “Edit” in its row. This page shows the values and does not change them.
