My account

Your own details in the system: your photo, your mobile number and email, your password, and the system's language. Open it from your name at the foot of the menu.

Open the page in SchoolOS

What it is for

One place for what is yours alone in your account, which you change yourself without asking anyone. Your name and identity number are on your staff record, and the staff administrator changes them under Settings → Staff, because the group's records rely on them.

Who uses it

Every member of staff who signs in, for their own account only; it is no permission to grant or withhold, and nobody sees another's account here.

Step by step

  1. Open the page by pressing your name or photo at the foot of the side menu.
  2. For the photo: “Choose a photo”, then “Save the photo”. It is made smaller in your browser before it is sent. “Remove the photo” deletes it.
  3. For the mobile number: type the new one, then “Save”; if it is what you sign in with, the staff administrator changes it. For the email: type the new one, then “Send the code”; a code comes to the new address: type it, then “Confirm”.
  4. For the password: type the current one, then the new one twice, then “Change the password”.
  5. For the language: choose العربية or English, then “Save the language”.
  6. If two-step verification is on: tick “Trust this device for 7 days” under the code when you sign in, and the code is not asked on that device for seven days; the password still is. To undo it: “Stop trusting all devices” in the two-step verification part of this page.

How it works

The photo is kept in a private folder that only opens inside the system, for the group's staff, and it is deleted when you replace or remove it. Your mobile number is where password recovery codes come when messaging is connected. You can sign in with your email too, and the password reset link goes to it, so it does not change until a code comes to the new address and you type it; and it is refused if another person in the group has it or another account signs in with it. Changing the password asks for the current one first, and signs you out on your other devices. The language is kept on your account, so you see the system in it on any device. A device is trusted only with a code from the authenticator app, never a recovery code, for your account alone on that device, and five devices at most; every one of them stops being trusted when your password is changed or reset, two-step verification is turned off, or your account is deactivated. Every change is written to the group's action log by its kind, without its value.

On the page

  • Your photo, your name and what you sign in with. The staff administrator changes your name and identity number.
  • Your mobile number and email. A new email gets a code before it changes, and so does the number if it is what you sign in with.
  • The current password first, then the new one twice. Your other devices are signed out.
  • The system's language for you, on every device you sign in from.

Questions

Why can't I change my name here?
Your name and identity number are on your staff record, which the group's records rely on. The staff administrator changes them under Settings → Staff.
The code did not come.
Check the number or email you typed, then press “New code”. A code is valid for ten minutes, and three can be asked for every quarter of an hour.
Who sees my photo?
Only your group's staff, inside the system. It is not published on the group's website or sent to anyone.
